It's a difficult time in this country politically with very strong opinions on very different ideas about government. Many people are unhappy, some of them are asking, is it time for a third political party in the United States?
Does a Third Party Make Sense Now?
It's not the first time a third party has been discussed.
"Polarization by conservatives and liberals of either party has increased steadily over the past few decades in the U.S., according to a poll by the Pew Research Center. In each party, the share of those with “a highly negative view” of the other party has more than doubled since 1994. These deep divides make many voters believe that it is time for a third party to emerge."
The two party system has failed us, is it time for a third party? It's a topic I've discussed on the Christopher Scott Show. Many listeners have developed strong feelings about the idea without even know what the platform is. Maybe the first question is, are you open to a third party?
What Does a Third Party Do For Us?
1. Representatives that put Americans first. Americans before special interests, foreign interests and personal gain.
Fix our badly broken election system. There should never be any questions about election accuracy and the results reliably 100%. As it stand the two-party establishment seems more content trying to leverage the process for party gain, encouraging election fraud and interference.
2. Set term limits. We need to reduce the likelihood that bought and compromised politicians are continually re-elected to office.
3. A fresh start politically. Yes, it's a bit daunting to consider creating a new political party in the United States. Then again, you could make the same argument it's well over due.
The Two-Party System Has Pros and Cons
There are certainly two-party disadvantages, that have many people asking if it's time to consider a third party beyond the two-party system in America.
