America's Most Hated Companies

This is the transcript of the introduction for this episode of the Christopher Scott Talk Show Podcast:

I'm sure you've heard the saying, the customer is always right. It's a slogan that shows a commitment to customer satisfaction. I guess some companies didn't get the message and not everybody agrees with that statement. Maybe that's why the companies are on this list. Maybe they don't see the value in good customer service.

Too bad for them and the rest of us I guess. Time and time again great customer service has paid off big time. But, it's more than just making happy customers. It's doing the right thing. I have a wealthy friend who says, "companies that focus on profits rarely achieve it". I don't know if that's true but I do know companies without happy customers don't last long.

Here’s a perfect example of how a business can grow when the owners trust their clients and do everything they can to make a great offer without fear of loss. A small company started using a “double your money back” guarantee. It wasn’t easy to get his business partners to agree on the offer. The partner argued different reasons for not using this guarantee. The partner was working on the assumption that a lot of customers would take advantage of the offer. That didn't happen. They offered the guarantee and business took off. So, why are so many big companies struggling with the idea of creating happy customers?
